Portland, Ore

As part of an expansion of their office in Wilsonville, OR this local company called upon Alternative Surfaces to assist with the complete replacement of a failing floor system throughout their facility, which included warehouse, packing areas and equipment areas.

The ideal solution needed to be low maintenance, low cost and very hardwearing. We assessed and evaluated a range of floor solutions and a test area was created on site to show our client how the finished project would look in their space.

We recommended a polished concrete floor as a solution, quite apart from the aesthetic beauty of the floor, the characteristics of the floor provided a good solution for the function; due to the densifying process the “wear surface” surface of the concrete becomes two to three times harder than the original concrete. So the forklift would not damage the floor, in addition there is nothing to delaminate over time.

A polished concrete floor finish provides clients with an extremely durable, low maintenance finish and improved air quality (by avoiding applied adhesives and surfaces on which dust and mold could collect). Old or new, polished concrete eliminates a lot of costs and concerns.

The breakeven point for investing in polished concrete, with or without color, is on average only one to two years, and that comes without the additional costs of tear-up, removal and preparation of carpet replacement.

Why choose Polished concrete?

It is a very versatile finishes in that you can choose to have a level of sheen that will meet your requirements for maintenance and practicality. It is because of this versatility that it is ideal for many different indoor environments including residential, corporate and industrial applications.

UNIQUENESS

If you want something that looks unique, Polished Concrete has to be near the top of any ones list. Each concrete plant batches of their concrete from different quarries so therefore no two slabs of concrete are even the same. The aggregates that are revealed within each slab through the grinding process will always be different.

This natural environmentally friendly finish included a bespoke aggregate blend and can be easily cleaned and maintained without chemicals.

An HTC Superfloor refines a concrete surface by means of specialist diamond grinding equipment and tooling. A platinum Superfloor finish was achieved finished to a high gloss with an exposed aggregate finish. The process removes the surface paste of the existing concrete to reveal the true strength and beauty of the concrete that lies beneath.

This floor was finished on time and on budget and to the extreme satisfaction of the client.
