Sandy Fire Department Upgrades with Alternative Surfaces Epoxy Flooring

August 21, 2015

Recently, Alternative Surfaces were called upon to remove a failed epoxy floor coating at Sandy Fire Department.  The Department were in the middle of renovating their staff bathrooms and the previous contractor had installed an epoxy floor over an improperly prepared substrate and the new coating was exhibiting extensive signs of failure throughout.

image01The previous painting contractor has just acid-washed the floor and applied an epoxy coating over the existing floor – a sure sign you’re going to have issues down the line.

We completely removed all of the coatings down to the bare concrete and then applied a SIKA Floor 510 Flake system with integral cove base so the coating achieved maximum chemical bond with the bare concrete to leave a seamless, easy to clean and hygienic surface for the remodeled bathroom.

This project was completed in 2 days to the satisfaction of everyone at the Fire Department.
